As a graphic designer, one is told what type of material to produce with certain specifications, so how can that product be called artwork? When coming up with a design, whether it is a logo, advertisement, or package, the process consists of experimenting, which can include sketches, research and exploration of the creative mind. The process of a graphic designer is similar to the process of a painter, sculptor, photographer or other artists. With all the experimenting with different techniques, along with exploration and practice, I have a better understanding of the basis of my designs and consideration that graphic design is art.
When I design pieces, I try to make sure I have a clear voice with a theme or direction. I want to make sure the client or viewer gets the right idea and understanding. Using elements from my life along with telling a story or having a message with a set feeling, it allows me to have a reason for making it. When creating work for a client I try to put these elements into a piece to bring a new vibe and personal touch to create an unique aesthetic experience. I put much effort into designing and continue to explore other forms of artwork to keep my inspiration new and diverse.
